Daily Scripture
13Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." 14Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" 15Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

Sunday Announcement
On Sunday we will be voting in all three services on the 2008/2009 church budget. Many hours of prayer and work have gone into the preparation of the budget over the last three months. The budget proposal is for $1,881,486.00. If you have not had a chance to review the budget plan, there are copies available in the lobby and in all Bible Community classes. Please take a moment to review the numbers, pray for God’s guidance and provision and please vote on Sunday morning.

Construction Update
Some updates on the new parking lot and drop off project:
- The parking lot was surveyed and marked off yesterday with stakes put up showing the outline of the lot.
- The irrigation system is supposed to be relocated today and the shrubbery moved.
- The tree clearing and leveling of the parking area should be under way next week as well as the pouring of the columns for the drop off area.
It looks like the summer will be very active which should lead to the completion of the parking lot before the upswing in attendance in August

13 "If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, 14 how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! 15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. 16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you."

13 Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light. 14 Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. 15 You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

I Want To Be An Encourager
This past Sunday we were issued a challenge to be encouragers for Christ. During the service we were asked to make a commitment to encourage others over the coming year. 172 people filled out the commitment cards and pledged to encourage others through their words and deeds, to encourage others by praying for them and to encourage others through their giving. A total commitment of $605,933 was pledged to be contributed over the next twelve months. Thank you for responding to the challenge. Through your efforts, prayers and gifts, Alice Drive will continue to help as many people as possible take their next step toward Jesus Christ.

Just Do It!
As followers of Jesus Christ we at ADBC stress helping our fellowship (collectively and individually) and those outside the doors of our wonderful church building “TAKE THE NEXT STEP”. One of those steps is learning to share the blessings of God with others with wise spending of our time, talents and, yes, financial resources. A close friend told me what he took to heart from attending the Crown Financial was: “never use the term my/our money. It's all the Lord's and we need to strive to be good stewards of HIS resources--time, talents, finances etc”.
First, God doesn’t “need” our money but allows us to take part in His ministry to a fallen and broken world when we open our check books and give. In the book of James the apostle says, “Be doers of the word and not hearers only…” and financial giving is an important part of “doing”. How much you give isn’t as important as why you give – remember the story of the Widow’s giving in Mark 12: 41-44. Giving is in fact a ministry, one all of us can do even if we can’t give as much as the Widow. We need to remember how much God gave us, “His only begotten Son”, consider how little he asks of us by comparison and give from the heart. Some may ask the question “how can I give” and there are multiple answers but Nike probably has the best answer – JUST DO IT! That said, here are some points to consider when you choose to give to ADBC:
¨ First, give regularly. Some habits are bad but the habit of giving will help you develop spiritually. You can do this during the worship services, on line (URL details) or even drop off at the office – gifts given on a regular systemic basis.
¨ Follow God’s leading to give over and above what you normally do for unforeseen events, mission trips, camps, or other needs.
¨ In Memory Of Gifts – gifts given in the name of someone else to honor or memorialize them.
¨ Special Occasion Gifts – gifts given in the name of someone else to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or Christmas. Some members of ADBC make special donations in stead of buying expensive gifts for relatives, especially when they really don’t need “one more thing”.
Remember, giving is a Blessing – not a duty.
